Can I Tell You About Jesus

Have you ever had a Jehovah’s Witness at your door? How about a Baptist? Once upon a time, a new Church was planted in Franklin Tennessee, Trinity Baptist Church, by Dave Barba Founder of Press on! Ministries. In that day we went door to door in the community cold calling. If we could just ask the question, “If you died today where would you spend eternity” we would get “the in” to walk them down the Romans Road. John said, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13)

Sunday Pastor Randy Heady’s sermon at New Hope Baptist Church was God’s Plan of Salvation. Pastor Ron Hardman gave a similar message while I was at Bakers Grove Baptist Church. One of the courses in the BBN Bible Institute is 52400 Personal Evangelism (Level 1). on our Start page we link to How to get to Heaven posted on BBN.

The Method given in the above BBN BI course has long standing and has been used successfully by many a “Soul Winner.” The Pastors messages and what we practiced back in the day follow that basic plan. Pastor Allen Jackson of World Outreach Church encourages us to share our “Jesus Story.” Peter Said, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” Our Start page links to How to Know God from Thru the Bible, Dr. J. Vernon McGee.

When I got home I noticed there was a text message on my phone. This phone is a flip phone used for voice calls. The number is not published but voice calls to my published number are forwarded to this phone. I’m not much for texting and if I do text I do so from a smart phone. I looked at the message, from a local (615 area, same as this phone ) number that I did not recognize. It said something like, could I talk to you about Jesus? I was hesitant to answer but did not delete it. Later using that phone (T9 texting) I sent out the text biblestudenthub.com. Still later, not being able to resist, I felt compelled to answer. Using my smart phone I began to answer the question Who Is Jesus. . .

Once upon a time, in a land far away, walked a man who’s name is Jesus. Now He was no ordinary man, although He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (cf. Hebrews 4:15) His favorite name for Himself is the “Son of Man” but He is also the Son of God. “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”(Philippians 2:6-8)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5)

God is sovereign but gave man free will. He, as creator, has the authority to rule over His creation but delegated authority to man. Man chose his will over God’s. God set out to redeem man. (cf. Genesis 3). He called a man, Abram, then a nation, Israel, through whom He would bless the world. (cf. Genesis 12:1-3) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (cf. John 3:14-21) “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3)

You see in Adam we all are sinners. We have inherited a sin nature. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” (Romans 3:10-11) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:24). “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6) “For the wages of sin is death (separation from God) Now this is where Jesus comes into play – but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) He paid it all! He paid a debt He did not owe, a debt I could not pay. He came to seek and save sinners. (cf. Luke 19:10) “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”(John 1:11-14) If one confesses by mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believes in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, one will be saved. (Romans 10:9) (redeemed – no longer separated from God)

There was a ruler of the Jews (that nation He called to bless the world) who came to Jesus to here what the teacher sent from God had to say. Jesus said you have to be born again, from above. Born of the Spirit like you were once born in the flesh. (cf. John 3) So God the Holy Spirit comes to live in you and you become a new man. (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21) But that’s not it, this same Jesus who is in heaven, making ready, will come back one fine day to clam His own. What a day of rejoicing that will be for those that believe and are looking for that day.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the light of the world. Know Him today! Blessings, Dave the Bible Student

The above is highly edited with all the resources available in this forum and to fit the style used herein. Texting is not a good format. Typos, misspelling and auto correct errors abounded in the original. The original was all paraphrase or from memory. It was a good exercise in expressing what I believe with out a copy of the Word in hand.

I would like to add the gospel according to Paul found in 1 Corinthians 15 to this post.

Pastors outline. . .

Jesus the Savior Revealed
Jesus the Savior Received
Jesus the Savior Rejected

Look for it next week on the Past Sermons page of the Church’s web site.

I would also recommend DTS Free Course Understanding God’s Covenants and the courses on each book offered. Or preview Graduate courses like BE5505 Kingdom and Covenants.

New DTS Free Online Course

Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) offers almost 20 Free Courses and you can preview graduate courses as well., the latest is Exodus but Genesis is here too.

I’m excited to share Dallas Theological Seminary’s new free online course on the Book of Exodus with you today. You may be familiar with some of the events described in Exodus—the plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, and the giving of the Law. But the Book of Exodus is so much more than a historical chronicle recounting the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Have you ever studied the significance behind the events? This course will help you dig deeper into the extraordinary events described in the book. The seven lessons review all forty chapters of the Book of Exodus. Taught by Dr. James Allman, DTS professor of Old Testament Studies and Bible Exposition, this course will help you see God’s character and purpose in Exodus—and help you understand why these revelations are important to believers today. This study of God’s Word will give you confidence in the Lord who keeps His promises! Activate your free course now »

Ranting

I rag on Facebook a lot. I live in the USA and we have been threw a lot of stuff! Mainstream Media, Politicians and Big Tech are playing out the pages of Biblical Prophecies before my very eyes!

We, Christ Followers, have been called out of This World. We are not of This World, we are sojourners here. How to flesh out being in the word but not of it is a challenge. Love not the things of This World. He who loves this world is not of Christ. Christ and the world our at odds. (Cf: verses)

My beef with Facebook is bigger than Facebook or even Social Media it is that above conflict. The enimies of the Sole are The Flesh, The World and The Devil.

I’m not alone raging on Facebook as they promote lies and censer the truth. Mark Zuckerberg Throws Money toward what is diabolically opposed to my World View or the Truth I proclaim and that goes for the Lot of Them.

Why would I give The Enemy ammunition to use against me and my kind. So you see my beef is more than the nonsense, distortion, distraction and wasted time. Social Media is anything but social, kinda like Road Rage, with it’s spirit of anonymity. Technology has a way of keeping us from connecting with one-another all the wile thinking we are. One of Satin’s biggest tools is to make us think we are alright when we are not. (Cf: Mat 7:21)

But I digress, Why is The Church more influenced by The World than The World influenced by The Church?

With all that has transpired recently in the USA some Conservative Social Media sites have come about. I have a dream where there is a Virtual Church, no not the invisible Church but our online place to replace all those worldly places I just can’t go, like Facebook.

The Bible Student Hub uses the concept of pointing the way to resources even our greatest resource God and His Word. We find that what we can’t do, in most cases, has been done somewhere. We try to make lists of useful resources for the Christ Follower.

We do not have the ability to realize that dream or become that resource. I am an ambassador for my LORD Jesus Christ and strive to promote Bible Study with the hope that lives will be therein changed. Our Start Page is geared toward that end. We do have a Resource Page with links beyond that scope.

We our planning on some much needed housekeeping throughout the domain. I’m aware of some apps and or websites that are Church resources, that could replace Those that I detest, like the Church App, One Place and Sermon Audio. I will work on listing them and maybe post a more useful post to introduce them and how to use Christian resources instead of those of the world.

Hey, if you are aware of resources for this list or a post that is already out there let me know. Comments and suggestions are not only welcome but strongly encouraged. Speaking of encouragement, If you use our Start or Resource pages drop me a line.

Well, I’m going to add a page for that Bible Study I’m supposed to be working on, details to come. Static pages are the heart of this site, this blog spot is just a draw and more nonsensical ramblings on. I do hope to do better about that and I know you can’t directly follow those works so what should be ongoing here is site updates. We will find a format that works someday. We do get a lot of likes and they give us a chance to see other blogs, like them and comment. Even listed some on our Resource Page.

Keep the faith,

Dave the Bible Student

Sunday 1/31/21

I like music, I have entertained in bars, lounges and roadhouses. I was down with Classic Country and a pretty good cover. I could bring the house down with an old Conway Twitty song. Now I only entertain at dinner parties and can’t do those old covers anymore. I still like music, the Classic Country sound and even Conway‘s unique style. There are some Classic Country songs I’ve found that can fit in with the Truth that I now proclaim. I have a good Country Gospel collection. I love the Psalms and Maranatha Music put many of them in those good ole Praise albums (1974). I also have an Audio Bible or three.

I find great value in Christian radio. When I can’t read or study but can listen it’s there. King of Kings Radio Network brings me Music I like, Local Preachers and a few well known teachers. BBN brings me the Conference Pulpit, Through the Bible and the Bible Institute.

Monday 1/25/21

This morning I awoke to the Chinese Water Torture. It is Raining Cats & Dogs here and my unit Leaks Like a Sieve. I miss my dog CoCoa He had a Stroke early in the morning of the 30th. His mama came and took him home and I don’t know what has become of him. He was a faithful companion to me, a partner in the work at the Corps and my emotional support dog. I truly could not have made it through without him. Sunny has been in and out, he’s a good cat but it’s just not the same.

Well I got up, put on the coffee and moved to the couch. I sat in the dark for awhile just listening to the falling rain. I am reminded of a Amy Grant Song from back in the day that had thunder in the background. I think it was How Great Thou Art but not able to find that original recording but here is a good one, Thy Word.

Rainy Days And Mondays always get me down, not really but Just could not resist. The Carpenters wow, what great talent Form Days of Old, 1971.

God is Good and always God is Good! Dr.Tony Evens is on the King of Kings Radio Network at 6:am CST USA. Today’s sermon “Reversing Anxiety” can be found on Tony’s Website. This gives me an in to mention The Tony Evans Training Center, It is not free and so is not yet on our Resource Page yet a great resource. Sunday 1/24/21

Please forgive me, I’m a bit frustrated. As I sat down and fired up this machine to write I find that the domain (biblestudenthub.com) is down. It was up last Sunday, not sure when it went down. Last week was busy, totally out of the box. Turns out that changing the contact information on Domain.com set off a verification process. Outlook360.com sent that email to the junk mail folder. I use Thunderbird for email client and do not see that folder only inbox. Well, I had to work/do business on Sunday but we are back up now. If you use the Bible Study Start Page or our Resource page I apologize if they were down when you needed them. Chalk it up to naivety.

Wile I’m begging your forgiveness, I apologize for not bringing you the new Bible Study instead of this ranting and for the rambling on and personal updates. I have abused this forum as it is my only forum. I thank you for your indulgence if you are following this blog for site updates or Bible Study related content. It is our prime purpose to promote Bible Study. Our hope is that you grow in your relationship with God. I am an Ambassador for my Lord Jesus Christ. To God be the glory and may the name of Jesus Christ be lifted up and held high!

Pray with me that all that I do and say will bring Him Glory, for in the end, all that maters is the Glory of God!

The day has been filled with great Music. Started with the likes of: The Cathedrals, The Inspirations , Montana and Renee Jones.

Attended live Sunday School and Service at New Hope Baptist Church. Yet another continuation of what Spirit has been doing since the first of the year, a true blessing! Once again I’ll say, You just had to be there. I hope you were truly blessed somewhere today but if not or if you have room for some more the service is available on F***B**k, search for New Hope Baptist Gainesboro TN. I will try to hit some highlights, in review, in a moment.

First let me say if you did not listen to BBN‘s Conference Pulpit this past week you missed out. You can listen until they are replaced with this weeks. Tim St. Clair, Abundantly Above All Revival Ministries, was the speaker.

Second let me send a shout out to My Pastors! Fred Davis, Ron Hardman, Allen Jackson and Randy Heady. I am where I am by the will of God for this time and place as was the case when I sat under you. I was as truly blessed to be apart of each and every Local Church along the way. I still follow your work and love and respect your Ministries. Know that I am praying for you and your work.

Thank you Bakers Grove for prayers and reaching out to me in love and concern last week.

I’m sorry I can’t do justice to the Sunday School lesson! The subject has been “The New World Order” No, not the great reset. In the end God will set things straight and there will be a new world order, ordered by God! The gist of it is that the some things, are now, out of place but are coming into place and will be in place in God’s new world order. One is the Church, this world is not our home, we are sojourners here. Another is the prince of this world will be dethroned, cast into the lake of fire that was prepared for him and his angles. Note: if you are lost, don’t have the Spirit of Christ Jesus, you are condemned to spend eternity in a place not prepared for you. It is not God’s will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (cf: 2 Peter 3:9)

Pastor Randy Heady’s message today was on peace. you will remember last week was fear and confusion the week before. Fear robs us of our peace and confusion breads fear. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.

Peace comes from assurance, John wrote his first epistle to give assurance to the new church that was getting confused because of some false teaching making the circuit in that day. The lesson was largely from 1 John. Pastor gave us a surprise exam, a test, if you will. There were five sections and a score of 100% is required to pass. You see john gave five signs of salvation that if present give us assurance. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God”. (5:13)

  1. The Commandment Section: 2:3-6, (Ps 1:1-3), 4:6, 5:3
  2. The Compassion Section: 2:9-11, 3:14-22, 4:20-21
  3. The Cristlikenes Section: 3:4-10, (2 Cor 5:17), 2:6, 1:8-10, (John 13:35)
  4. The Companion Section: 3:24, (1 Cor 12:13), (Rom 8:16), (Eph 1:13), (2 Cor 1:23), (John 16:13), (Eph 1:13-14)
  5. The Commitment Section: 5:12, 5:13, (Rom 8:9)

There is so much I could and would like to say here but alas time fails me. I have to go, it’s getting late and I’m spent.

Blessed Assurance, Peace in the Valley, It Is Well With My Soul, The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength, His Spirit lives in me deep down in my sole, Selah!

Sunday 1/17/21

Just a quick update: As the disease progresses I have less presents of mind. I find that it often fails me. Sometimes I can’t think straight but yet my mind is working against me. I find it difficult to communicate yet I need to express myself. That being said, I’m starting a new study project and am intending to bring it to you here. Not sure how fast or steady the posts will come.

I have moved and have been attending New Hope Baptist Church. The message today was on fear. Pastor Said he wanted to build on last weeks lesson on confusion. I find that the last three Sundays have a natural progression.

The first lesson was a new years lesson about taking inventory; sorting through things, finding treasures to keep, things to trash. the second lesson on confusion went toward reducing the clutter and realigning priorities. Today, why the confusion or the result of it.

The world is in some sad state of affairs even the Church is not where it should be. Fear and confusion rule the day. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. Pastor said fear comes from the old man.

I didn’t take notes until today and those notes are not very good. Wrote down some references, some from pastor and some that just came to me.

2 Timothy 1:6; 2 Timothy 1:1-11; 2 Timothy 1:12-18; 1 Corinthians 13:5; Philippians 4:8; 2 Timothy 1:7; 1 Peter 5:6; Micah 6:8

Humble Thyself In the Sight of the Lord; “Micah 6:8”; Take two, “Micah 6:8”.

Well I got to go, I’m all tapped out and it’s getting late. I hope you were in church today or joined online. If not there are churches that do have an online presence. check out our resource page. As for the above, you relay had to be there to see Spirit move. It was a men’s meeting and 3 Sundays of Sunday School, song/worship service and lessens. I have truly been blessed and wanted to share with you. Unfortunately those Sunday School classes are not online but the services are. They are on the church’s F***b**k page and I don’t have any thing to do with F***b**k and wont link to it. You can find the page on the church’s website. New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Randy Heady

Merry Christmas

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6

At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. — Luke 2

Sunday May 24 2020

This weeks Good News Memory Verse: As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. — Psalm 18:30 from BBN. And on the Conference Pulpit: Stuart Latimer.

Update: Introducing the Bible Study Start Page 2.0 — designed to be a starting point for the On-line Bible Student. Featuring links to free Bible study resources available to all on the World Wide Web. Our vision for the Bible Student Hub is to serve Bible students by providing links to resources for those home schooling. Weather going it alone or enrolled in a distance learning program. This start page is the heart of that vision. Many links have been shared on these blog posts and a Resources page has been added to host other useful links outside of the scope of the stat page. This page is a bit messy but we plan to work on that soon. Blog posts, here, will only come when there is a need to express my thoughts or have updates to share. Follow the blog to receive notice of new posts.

DTS is now offering a free course in 1 Corinthians. “Our culture so closely resembles that of ancient Corinth, it’s as if Paul wrote his epistle of 1 Corinthians directly to us.” -Mark L. Bailey, Ph.D. President DTS. Activate your free course now »

Scroll down threw the posts to find the links to the resources you have come to find here. As always comments and suggestions are not only welcome but encouraged!
