Beloved,
Once again I am overwhelmed, too busy and failing to accomplish what I would like. I’m going to have to lengthen my productive day. Now that the days are longer and we’ve moved to Daylight Savings Time I fall away at sundown and can’t get much done between 6:00 AM and first light. So much work needs doing outside and dawn calls to me. I need to swap 6 for 5 just to get my quiet time in.
I came here today, at this time because this morning I was reminded of a series Bruce Cooper has been doing; Gospel of John Musings on, Reasoned Cases For Christ.
The latest is; musings-from-the-gospel-of-john-number-53/
My favorite is; musings-from-the-gospel-of-john-number-47/, Chapter Seventeen
The first one; musings-from-gospel-of-john-number-1/, Chapter One
I really really really enjoy this series! Perhaps I’m a bit partial to John and perhaps a bit partial to Bruce as well. He labors heavily in Apologetics but is a very competent expositor as you can see for yourself.
Thank You Bruce,
Worthy is the Lamb!

While I would like to continue studying out Philippians 1:29 here, I’m not able to stay on task. That has been interrupted and set aside for the moment due to ADD. I was shanghaied this morning while going through the mail bag. I follow many people, blogs and organizations via mail service, too many. Most of which just get a skimming, maybe a quick read. This mornings mail call delivered notice of a new post from Gospel-road#66.1, Once saved always saved? #challengingtopics.2.
Once Saved Always Saved is a monicker usually preceded by those who believe in, more often than not critical, in context. The “?” not withstanding, Deano writes not as a critic but recognizing a challenging topic and wanting to foster conversation seeking truth.
Within the Theological discipline of Soteriology exists a doctrine of Eternal Security, most common in Reformed Theology and associated with Calvinism. It is also considered a Baptist Distinctive in most traditions.
This is not the first time this discussion has surfiest within our WordPress family. Not the first time I couldn’t help but to throw in my two cents, via a lengthy comment, on someone else’s blog either. See: my past posts
Deano gave a good treatment: there wasn’t a lot to add and I didn’t disagree with it; rather concur and affirm, with my two cents.
He sighted the following Scripture… (Acts 4:2), (Romans 6:23), (Romans 10:9-10), (John 14:6), (Matthew 7:13), (John 3:16), (2 Timothy 1:9), (Ephesians 1:13), (1 Corinthians 3:15), (John 19:30), (Luke 23:42), (2 Timothy 2:19) (Matthew 12:24-37), (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Thought I’d post that comment, edited, here and link to his post. Please read his post and if led, comment.
We have many denominations within the Church. We have many Theologians, Teachers and Preachers. Many doctrines and traditions and no shortage of translations or commentary. Ones Soteriology is often the point of contention. It is deep, vast and full of truly challenging topics so often avoided. You could say we have many “faiths” to keep (keep the faith – the faith which we preach). One can renounce, change ones mind or turn from ones “faith and practice” (believe in vain – go out from us, not of us).
I am a sinner saved by Grace. Sin seperates us from fellowship with God. Often this can cause one to question ones salvation or faith in Christ but the Spirit himself testifies with our spirit to give assurance.
Mans problem is seperation from God. God’s solution is Jesus Christ who died for our sins according to the scriptures; was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures, cf. 1 Corinthians 15. Faith is the conduit to Grace: it’s by grace we are saved through faith, cf. Ephesians 2. The result is the new birth, cf. John 3. (born of the Spirit – indwelt) “life in Christ” eternal, abundant and free! – signed, sealed and delivered! That’s Salvation (past tense – from the penalty of sin) – a point in time that manifests in Salvation (present tense – from the bondage of sin), and ultimately results in Salvation (future tense) Glorification!!! But God will not be mocked – many will identify as a Christian having works (present) without “Life” or Salvation (past) but that does not make them one. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. —Matthew 7:21-23. Note: The work of God is to believe on him whom he hath sent, cf. John 6:29.
Let me add: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” –John 17:3 KJV
Thank you for posting about this challenging topic, Deano

Beloved,
My destiny for this day, that the Lord has given me, became evident to me early this morning. While going threw the mail bag [email inbox] and coming to the Thomas Nelson KJV verse of the day from HarperCollins Christian Publishing. It showed Philippians 1:29. When I read it, out of context, a red flag went up that I had to study out. Did Paul just say that believing on Christ is given, literally? In the Theological discipline of Soteriology exists a chasm betwixt Calvinists and Wesleyan–Arminianism. Among other things, Sovereign Choice vs Free Will. My position from the Whole Council of Scripture, as has been made known to me through years of Bible study is there is a Holy Tension.
“Very often folks are afraid of the tension in Scripture between God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. That is probably because our finite minds cannot fully grasp how both can be true. But God’s mind is not finite — He sees the end from the beginning and everything in between. And so we can be assured that even when we can’t figure out how two seemingly contrary things can both be true, God can. Rather than trying to figure out the secret things of God, we should allow the not-so secret things to have an impact on the way in which we live our lives.” — Devaney, Phil: A Holy Tension
First let’s look at the whole phrase, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.” (vv. 29-30, KJV – Philippians 1, Bible Hub)
For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not onlyto believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me. (vv. 29-30, NAS95 – Philippians 1, Bible Hub)
For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have. (vv. 29-30, ESV – Philippians 1, Bible Hub)
For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. (v. 29, NLT – Bible Hub)
it is given: ἐχαρίσθη charizomai – Strong’s G5483 [occurs 580 times in 551 verses] to grant as a favor that is gratuitously in kindness pardon or rescue – LIT: it has been granted
behalf: ὑπὲρ hyper – Strong’s G5228 [occurs 13 times in 13 verses] for the sake of
of Christ: Χριστοῦ christos – Strong’s G5547 [occurs 90 times in 86 verses] anointed that is the Messiah an epithet of Jesus
to believe: πιστεύειν pisteuō – Strong’s G4100 [occurs 2 times in 2 verses] to have faith (in upon or with respect to a person or thing) that is credit; by implication to entrust (especially one´ s spiritual well being to Christ)
Philippians 1:29 Context
27Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. 29For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; 30Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me. Sunday School Lesson 3/27/22…
The intercession of Abraham for the people of Sodom (Genesis 18:16-33)
Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? — having in mind righteous Lot, who dwelt in Sodom, whom he knew to be a just man, Abraham was convinced there were righteous people in Sodom so he appealed for Sodom on the basis of God’s justice.
After the LORD revealed to Abraham that He was going to destroy Sodom, and while the two angels were walking toward that city, Abraham’s great intercessory countdown began: fifty…forty-five…forty…thirty…twenty…ten.
The LORD would not have destroyed Sodom if ten righteous men could be found. And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake. (v. 32)
In the end, He did not destroy the righteous with the wicked. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. (Genesis 19:16)
Abraham’s prayer is a wonderful example of effectual intercession. It was based on the righteous character of the Judge of all the earth (v. 25) and evidenced that boldness, yet deep humility which only an intimate knowledge of God can give. Only when Abraham stopped pleading did the Lord close the matter and depart (v. 33). There are many mysteries in life for which the truth of verse 25 is the only satisfying answer.
MacDonald, William. 1989 Believer’s Bible Commentary. Nashville, TN Thomas Nelson.
With the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah imminent, God paused, yet again, to allow them another chance. This time Abraham would be a part of the forbearing process. Abraham appealed to God’s justice, by saying, Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
Evans, Tony. 2019. The Tony Evans Study Bible. Nashville, TN: Holman Bible.
“Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just?” Abraham bases his argument on the justice of God. And when a man dares to do that, it is mighty pleading, for, depend on it, God will never do an unjust thing. If we dare to plead his righteousness, his infallible justice, we plead most powerfully.
Spurgeon. 2017. The Spurgeon Study Bible: Notes. Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers.
Thus the theme of justice predominates: those who will enjoy God’s blessing (a) will teach justice (v. 19); (b) may intercede for just judgment to preserve the righteous; and (c) know that God may preserve the wicked for the sake of the righteous. Certainly Israel learned from this that God is a righteous Judge, that righteousness exalts a nation (cf. Prov. 14:34), and that righteous people help preserve society (cf. Matt. 5:13). These truths should have been as great a concern to Israel as they were to Abraham who turned them into compassionate intercession.
Ross, Allen P. 1985. “Genesis.” In The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures, edited by J. F. Walvoord and R. B. Zuck, 1:60. Wheaton, IL: Victor Books.
Who: the LORD and Abraham; What: intercession for the people of Sodom; Where: The plains of Mamre at Hebron (cf. 13:18; 14:13); Why: Justice and righteousness. Wherefore: We can and should intercede for others.

Beloved,
The latest edition to my PocketBible library is the Dictionary of Bible Themes. This is a two volume topical Bible study resource. One is a topical index you can use to start a topical study. The other follows verse by verse along with your Bible, like a commentary to list topics where the verse is included. The above link has a demonstration showing a three panel layout linking and adding the Bible to the above volumes. I use a four tab formate on my tablet and a two panel multi tab formate on the MacBook. In either case each volume has a separate place where it fits into my study layout.
Topical Bible study is not new. I already had Nave’s Topical Bible for PocketBible. I also have the Thompson Chain-Reference Bible in print. I like how this resource works in my PocketBible setup. Logos uses data sets along with study guides and a powerful search feature whereby you can conduct a topical study.
If you are Laridian Bible Software customer you received an email with this offer. The offer is not only a discounted price of $14.99 but includes Lewis Sperry Chafer‘s Major Bible Themes for free. I already had a copy so have a gift code to give it to a friend. See 3/31/21 about that previous purchase.
The Advanced Feather Set for PocketBible is also on sale for half price through 3/28/22.
I use PocketBible by Laridian as a study Bible on my tablet and now have it on my MacBook. PocketBible is free but it only comes with the KJV Bible and Users Guide. Their website says, Once you register you’l get access to 40 resources. But when registered a Free account gives you access to 10 bibles & 37 other resources.

Beloved,
Yesterday I renewed the WordPress account Bible Student and transferred the registration of the domain biblestudenthub.com from domain.com to WordPress (Automattic). While domain.com renewal is less expensive domain privacy is extra and so this arrangement is more economical in the long run. I had just renewed and WordPress added another free so only paid for account renewal. So far so good and personal information is still redacted. Whois lookup shows no information and ICANN only shows city and state.
Last time I referred to “Church Tech” and mentioned that Faithlife also offered resources for individuals and briefly covered Logos Bible Software.
I have endeavored to promote resources that are free and available to all on the Word Wide Web first and foremost on the Bible Student Hub. There are some advantages, were posable, to installing Bible study software or related Mobile App.
Note: if you are not permitted to have a Bible, Bible App or use Web based resources a VPN may provide ability and security. ProtonVPN is open source and free to use as is ProtonMail.
I would like to revisit Faithlife from the angle of resources for the individual at some time. I would also like to post about those Web based resources.
I will defer to Bible study software for now. Having covered what you get access to for free using PocketBible and Logos in the last post and wanting to stay with free resources I want to take a look at E-Sword. E-Sword is a free PC Bible Study application perfect for the old-school student. They claim all you need is included free. Modules can be made by users (developers) and they can charge for them.
I have set up an old 2012 MacBook Pro to run free accounts. E-Sword X is the Mac version. Note: Apple ID required and App Store charges $9.99 to download this App.
A fresh download of E-Sword X opens with a very nice 5 panel study view. It has the KJV, F. B.Meyer Commentary, Smith’s Bible Dictionary, Strong’s Concordance and a note panel. No registration or account needed to use or download free modules. More modules available for free than with Logos or PocketBible or accessible free in Faithlife Study Bible or any Web Apps.
Hebrew and Greek Bibles can be added for free as well as the ESV. It was easy to simulate a Scofield Reference Bible: Scofield’s Notes loaded in commentary panel. John Darby and John Gill also available free. Some Commentaries I paid for or here free but others are locked (royalties required so available for a price). Webster’s 1828 and Nave’s Topical are free but Vine’s is locked. BDB and Thayer’s both Free. Not as many resources as Logos. Most popular old-school resources are available and more are free than locked. There is a related page for support, finding modules and purchases.
Tomorrow I will be in my place at New Hope Baptist Church. My Sunday school class(junior high boys) will be in Genesis 16 – Sarai gives Hagar to Abram and Ishmael is born. Pastor Randy Heady will continue the series on the modal prayer. you can watch livestream on the church website or Youtube channel.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” —Psalms 119:105

Dear friends thank you for your support. Although the Bible Study Start Page and Resource Page have been available I have not posted in some time. I am coming along and should be able to return to this work soon. I would like to change things a bit. I want to not only be a hub for resources but a hub for exegetical Bible studies and Bible students to publish studies and papers. Some of you have your own site/blog and some do not. I do intend to publish my own Bible studies in the future and would like to invite other students to publish on the Bible Student Hub.
February is renewal time and I received a donation that will fund renewal of services, as is, for two years. I have renewed the domain registration so far and will renew WordPress account before deadline.
I did some research earlier but decided to stay with Domain.com and WordPress. I may not renew Office 365 email service in favor of WordPress email forwarding and Proton email service.
I am a member of New Hope Baptist Church and glad to announce the Church is moving to the Subsplash platform. The new website is live but still being refined. Services can now be viewed from the site or on the new Youtube Channel. Mobile App will be available soon.
Church Tech has become a big deal and new tools and services are available that are designed specifically for Churches. FaithLife and Subsplash are two leaders in Church Tech.
I have Apps on my smartphone that use the Subsplash platform but am not a client or have any affiliation and was not responsible for our Church moving to their platform.
FaithLife has many resources for individuals as well as Churches. I have had a FaithLife account for a while and use Logos Bible Study Software. FaithLife offers several free resources…
Biblia is a handy tool bloggers can link to when sighting Scripture. Readers do not have to have an account but if they do it will display commentary too. FaithLife Study Bible is basically the same interface. Both start with your choice of 61 bibles. With Free account and logged in you get 62 bibles & 96 other resources. If you order the Free (basic) Logos and are logged in you have access to 64 bibles and 142 other resources. Any resources you have purchased will be available as well. My Android Tablet will not run the Logos Mobile App and the Web App is too slow so I use Biblia to read books in my library.
I use PocketBible by Laridian as a study Bible on that tablet. Their website says, Once you register you’l get access to 40 resources. It only has KJV Bible and Users Guide. But when registered a Free account gives you access to 10 bibles & 37 other resources.
Talking about Free Bible study tools, let me mention the BBN Bible Institute. 100 audio courses from noted Bible teachers.
Dallas Theological Seminary offers 23 Free courses and invites you to preview Graduate courses as well. View available online corses on the Voice which also hosts Chapel and many other resources. The latest offering is a free course, What is Theology? This is taken from ST 5101 that can be found using the above link.

HarperCollins Christian Publishing sends me the Thomas Nelson KJV Verse of the Day via email, today I find…
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” -Philippians 2:9-11, King James Version (KJV)
World Outreach Church sends me Today with Allen Jackson via email. Today I find Our Great & Merciful God which reference…
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” -Romans 5:8-9, King James Version (KJV)
I use the King James Bible Online to copy and past scripture. Their Verse of the Day is…
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” -Romans 10:17, King James Version (KJV)
From 7/7/21 let me ad…
“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” -Isaiah 45:22-23, King James Version (KJV)
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” -Romans 5:5-17, King James Version (KJV)
“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” -Romans 10:8-10, King James Version (KJV)
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” -Revelation 5:13

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” -John 3:30
“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” -Isaiah 45:22-23
“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” -John 12:31-32
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” -John 3:14-18
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” -John 14:6
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” -Luke 19:10
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” -Luke 4:18-19
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” -Matthew 11:28-29
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” -John 10:10
“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”-John 1:11-13
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” -John 3:3
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” -John 5:24
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” -John 17:3
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” -Romans 5:5-17
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” -Romans 8:1-14
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.” -1 Corinthians 15:45
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” -Romans 1:16
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you – unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preached and so you believed” -1 Corinthians 15:1-11
“Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” -2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” -Romans 10:8-10
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” -1 John 5:20
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” -Galatians 5:16-25
“And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” –Matthew 28:17-20

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” —Psalms 119:11
